My ADSL Internet Is Slow,I am using alcatel modem for ADSL connection, how can i test to understand where problem is coming from , What Can i do?

Some advices to be sure about the issue;
Leave just one computer connected to your modem via Ethernet cable. Disable any firewall, antivirus, download manager or adware program on that computer.
Download a file greater than 100MB from www.microsoft.com - e.g. Windows XP Service Pack 3 and record the average download speed.
Perform a speed test on:
www.speedtest.net www.speedtest.bbmax.co.uk www.thinkbroadband.com
Perform ping and traceroute tests to:
www.guardian.co.uk www.yahoo.com www.google.com
to perform this, open a Command prompt window and type there:
PING: ping guardian.co.uk -l 512 -f -n 50 <Press Enter>
TRACE ROUTE: tracert guardian.co.uk <Press Enter>
Do the same for Yahoo (yahoo.co.uk) and Google (google.com) web pages as well.
After these tests are done, right click in the Command prompt window, select āMarkā, press and hold the left mouse button and select the desired information, then press Enter. Then paste the information into Text file or into the Ticket reply window.
Please, answer the following questions as well:
1. How many phone sockets you have at your premises? 2. Do you use the main socket? 3. Do you have a Test Socket and can you connect there if you have one? 4. Have you tried to replace the ADSL filter and the DSL cable? 5. Do you use the equipment we provide with the Welcome pack? 6. How many computers you have at your premises? 7. How they are connected to the modem - via Wireless or Ethernet cable? 8. Do you have other services on this line like phoneTV, Faxes, alarms etc.?
and call your ISP provider with the clear data results to direct them for a faster technical response
